Motorcyclist killed in Monroe crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a truck in Monroe County on Tuesday.

State police at Lehighton said the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 534 and Lower Middle Creek Road in Polk Township, at 5:10 p.m.

Troopers identified the deceased as Zachary J. Miller, 25, of Saylorsburg. He was operating a 2006 Honda CBR bike. Troopers said the truck involved was a 2017 Ford F450 driven by Matthew R. Sterner, 30, of Kunkletown.

According to troopers, when they arrived the truck was partially in the roadway of 534 and partially on Lower Middle Creek Road. Below the rear bumper was Miller with his bike about 20 yards from the truck.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries, troopers said. Sterner was not injured. The bike had to be towed due to damages while the truck sustained minor damages. No other details of the crash were given by troopers.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by West End ambulance personnel and Polk Township Fire Company volunteers.
