Arraignment held in Carbon man’s homicide

The York man charged with killing Kyle Hagenbuch of Carbon County was arraigned Tuesday.

Dasean Damont Morris, 19, was arraigned by Zoom from the York County Prison where he is facing murder charges in the killing of Hagenbuch July 31 in York City.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Dec. 16 in front of Common Pleas Judge Harry Ness.

Morris is charged with murder of the first and third degree in Hagenbuch’s killing. He also faces charges of carrying a firearm without a license and marijuana possession. His attorney, Sandra Thompson, waived his arraignment on the less serious charges, court documents show.

Kyle King, spokesperson for York County District Attorney David Sunday, said they are not pursuing the death penalty in the case.

Magisterial District Judge Linda Williams held the preliminary hearing by Zoom Sept. 25 and held both sets of charges for court.

Hagenbuch was shot outside in the area of 900 E. Clarke Ave. in July. He died Aug. 2 at WellSpan York Hospital. His death was ruled a homicide.
