The Schuylkill County Commissioners encouraged the public to observe Make a Difference Day Oct. 24.

The commissioners signed a proclamation Wednesday affirming the benefits of community service. They urged residents to “step out of their personal comfort zone to care about those in need” and to “answer the call to improve the quality of life for everyone in our part of the world, thereby reaffirming that each one of us can make difference.”

This year marks the 25th year of county participation.
