Standoff in Jim Thorpe

Police are on scene Monday morning at a standoff on Lehigh Street in Jim Thorpe.

Jim Thorpe Superintendent John Rushefski announced that Jim Thorpe schools are currently in non-intruder lockdown status due to the incident.

“This will focus on the high school and L.B. Morris Elementary School. Teaching and learning will continue during this type of lockdown. However, no visitors or students will be permitted to leave and/or enter,” Rushefski’s message read.

Parents will receive notice when the lockdown is over.

We’ll release more details as they become available.
