Schuylkill reports 87 virus cases over 2 days; 2,372 statewide

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Monday that there were 1,103 new cases, in addition to 1,269 new cases reported on Sunday for a two-day total of 2,372 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 183,315.

Allegheny is reporting an increase of 100 cases.

There were 26 new deaths reported Sunday, and 8 new deaths reported for Monday for a total of 8,500 deaths attributed to COVID-19. In nursing and personal care homes, there are 24,663 resident cases of COVID-19, and 5,389 cases among employees, for a total of 30,052 at 1,025 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,609 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Locally, Carbon County is reporting 547 cases, an increase of nine new cases. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 29.

Lehigh County is reporting 6,149 cases, an increase of 40. One more death was reported for a total of 362. Luzerne County reported an increase of 93 cases, bringing the total to 4,748. Deaths remain at 190. Monroe County has 15 new cases, bringing the total to 1,938, with 134 deaths. Northampton County has 5,062 cases, an increase of 40 cases. There are 309 deaths. Schuylkill County has 1,632 cases, an increase of 87. Two more deaths have been reported for a total of 73.
