Pleasant Valley boys soccer player tests positive

A player on the Pleasant Valley varsity boys soccer team has tested positive for coronavirus, the district announced Saturday afternoon.

Dr. Lee Lesisko, Pleasant Valley superintendent put out a call to parents. “At about 2:45 p.m. today we learned a student athlete from the Boys Varsity Soccer Team tested positive for COVID-19. To this end, all members of the high school varsity and junior varsity boys soccer team have been asked to stay home and quarantine until further notice,” he said.

The athletes will be completing school through remote learning.

Lesisko said on Monday morning, the district will speak to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and then notify members of the team of their status.

“In regard to the student who tested positive, the PA Department of Health only contact traces 48 hours prior to testing positive or when symptoms first begin. This student was not in school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of this week, so there is no need to contact trace any students in the school building setting,” he said.

On Wednesdays and weekends the schools are deep cleaned.
