Bowmanstown Borough Council took the following action at its special budget meeting on Tuesday:

• Adopted a resolution for the LSA grant application for the replacement of the volunteer fire company building.

• On a 4-2 vote, agreed to hire a full-time employee, whose name and salary were not released, to manage and operate the borough’s sewer plant, and to hire a contractor to fill in. Council President William Ravert and Councilwoman Kara Scott were opposed. After the meeting, Councilman Darren Thomas explained they are “withholding his name until he gives his full acceptance. Then the release of the name will be at our next meeting.”

• Approved payment No. 2 in the amount of $133,231 for the M2 construction (reed beds for the sewer plant).

• Announced the next borough council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 10.
