1,857 additional virus cases in Pa.; Schuylkill has 34 new cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Saturday that there were 1,857 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 180,943.

Allegheny is reporting an increase of 132 cases, Philadelphia is reporting an increase of 193 cases, Berks is reporting an increase of 108 cases, Delaware is reporting an increase of 104 and Westmoreland is reporting an increase of 98 cases.

There are 8,466 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of nine new deaths reported.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 24,482 resident cases of COVID-19, and 5,361 cases among employees, for a total of 29,843 at 1,021 distinct facilities in 62 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,608 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.

Approximately 11,618 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Locally, Carbon County is reporting 538 cases, an increase of five new cases. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 29. Lehigh County is reporting 6,109 cases, an increase of 31. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 are a total of 361. Luzerne County reported an increase of 61 cases, bringing the total to 4,655. Deaths remain at 190. Monroe County has nine new cases, bringing the total to 1,923, with 134 deaths. Northampton County has 5,022 cases, an increase of 50 cases. There are 309 deaths. Schuylkill County has 1,545 cases, an increase of 34. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 71.
