Monroe director gives voting info
The Monroe County Office of Elections and Registration is responsible for the effective conduction and procedures for all elections and voter registration held in Monroe County.

The office and the people who work under May-Silfee are responsible for many different tasks in guarantee the day of elections goes smoothly.
Processing and updating of registration records, finding polling places, instructing district boards for each election, as well as preparing ballots is not all they are responsible for.
The office also handles the programming and maintenance of election machines, preparation of absentee ballots and certifying vote totals.
Safe and Secure
There are 52 polling places in Monroe County, and May-Silfee is confident the polling places are safe and secure.
“Not all boroughs and townships in Monroe County have constables, but the ones that do will have a constable at the polls on Nov. 3,” she said.
Ballot boxes
Monroe County will have five boxes, and four of the boxes will be inside libraries. The fifth box will be outside at the Smithfield Township building.
“All the boxes will be secured to the wall, locked and every box has a camera,” she said.
Access to the indoor boxes will be during the operating hours of the library.
May-Silfee suggests you either call the library where you want to drop off your ballot or log on to their website to find the current operating hours.
The locations are: Eastern Monroe Public Library, Clymer Library, Pocono Mountain Library, Western Pocono Community Library and Smithfield Township Municipal Building.
“The ballots will be picked up every day, taken back to the Monroe County Office of Elections and Registration, where they will be logged in and placed in a secured box that is locked. Anyone who has any questions can call our office, 570-517-3165, she said.
