Carbon County’s second round of COVID-19 Relief Block Grant applications opens today.
On Thursday, Commissioner Rocky Ahner said that the county will have approximately $1.2 million available to distribute from the CARES funding the county received for the grant.
Last week, Carbon County approved the distribution of $2.8 million from the $5.79 million it received.
This week, the county also approved an additional 40 applications that had been awarded grants but had been missing final paperwork. This distribution totaled $652,188.44. Fourteen additional first round applicants still need to send in signed agreements.
“It was a long process with many changes; but it feels good to be part of awarding businesses, municipalities and nonprofits of Carbon County well deserved money,” Ahner said.
Eligible entities can now apply for reimbursement of COVID-19 related expenses through Oct. 30. Grant awards will be capped at $100,000.
Priority will be will given to entities that have not previously been awarded CARES funding or grants.
