Increase in virus cases throughout region

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Wednesday that there were 1,309 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 166,552.

There are 8,272 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 28 new deaths reported. County-specific information and a statewide map are available on the COVID-19 Data Dashboard.

Carbon County is reporting three new cases, bringing the total to 485 cases. An additional death has been reported for a total of 29 deaths.

In Lehigh County, there are 45 new cases, bringing the total to 5,850. An additional death is reported for a total of 357 deaths.

Luzerne County reported 4,252 cases, an increase of 30. There are 190 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Monroe County has 1,846 cases, an increase of 15 since Monday. There are 134 deaths.

In Northampton County, there are 4,684 cases, an increase of 38. An additional death has been reported for a total of 306 deaths.

Schuylkill County’s case count jumped by 11 since Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,308. Two additional deaths were reported for a total of 60.

In nursing and personal care homes in Pennsylvania, there are 23,538 resident cases of COVID-19, and 5,210 cases among employees, for a total of 28,748 at 994 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,525 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.

Approximately 11,113 of our total cases are among health care workers.
