Monday virus update: 672 new cases reported

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Monday that there were 672 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 164,207.

There are 8,227 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 11 new deaths reported.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 23,312 resident cases of COVID-19, and 5,175 cases among employees, for a total of 28,487 at 993 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,485 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Approximately 11,003 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Carbon County is reporting an additional case, bringing the total to 478 cases. There are 28 deaths.

In Lehigh County, there are 11 new cases, bringing the total to 5,781. An additional death is reported for a total of 355 deaths.

Luzerne County reported 4,209 cases, an increase of 16. There are 190 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Monroe County has 1,829 cases, an increase of three since Sunday. There are 134 deaths.

In Northampton County, there are 4,606 cases, an increase of nine, with 305 deaths.

In Schuylkill County, there are 1,277 cases, an increase of 19. An additional death has been reported, bringing the total to 58.
