Landlord charged in tenant dispute

A landlord was cited following a dispute with one of his tenants.

McAdoo police said on Sept. 1 at 4:56 p.m. they were dispatched to an apartment along South Kennedy Drive for a landlord/tenant dispute.

The landlord, Donald Brink, 57, of Saylorsburg, told officers one of his tenants owed him money. He said the tenant said he didn’t have to pay rent due to the order by the governor. He said the tenant then pushed him down a flight of stairs.

Police then spoke to the tenant who said Brink had knocked on his door and when he went outside to speak to him Brink jammed a finger into his throat and was yelling at him about rent money. The tenant said he turned to move away from Brink when he was pushed down the stairs from the third floor to the second floor landing. The tenant then said another tenant came out and Brink grabbed her phone and threw it, cracking the screen.

Police said they spoke to the other tenant, whose story coincided with the first tenant.

Police said they then charged Brink with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.
