Fern Ridge State Police-DUI cases

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following DUI cases:

• Derrick Winbrone, 52, of Wilkes-Barre, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol following a stop made by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks at 10:49 p.m. Sept. 12 at the intersection of Bear Creek and Buck boulevards in Bear Creek Township.

Police said they stopped him while he was driving a 2006 Nissan that was unable to stay within its lane of travel. Police said Winbrone failed several field sobriety tests and was requested to submit to a blood draw, which he refused tom so. He was charged accordingly and released to his wife, police said.

• State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported Michael Mitchell, 35, of Scranton, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a traffic stop they made at 11:44 p.m. Sept. 18 in Plains Township.

Police said he was driving a 2018 Nissan Titan that was stopped for a traffic violation, after which time police said he displayed signs of intoxication. He was transported to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department headquarters for a breathalyzer test.
