LCCC courses offered

Lehigh Carbon Community College offers a variety of classes in the coming months:

Cooking with kids classes

LCCC will offer a parent and child class at its main campus. Children ages 10-16 and their parents can attend for a fee.

On Oct. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., learn how to make classic Neapolitan-style pizza.

Cooking classes

LCCC will offer a variety of noncredit cooking and baking classes. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all classes will be held at the Schnecksville campus. All tuitions include a materials fee, payable upon registration.

Learn how to make your foods look more appealing, how to bake delicious desserts, how to prepare fundamental items and freeze them for later use, and more.

Couples cooking

Lehigh Carbon Community College will offer a variety of noncredit hands-on cooking classes for couples to enjoy. All are held from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Lisa Jane Scheller Community Services Center kitchen at LCCC’s main campus in Schnecksville. Fees per person vary.

• Learn the history and cultural context and how to make sushi rolls in date night class Sushi 101, held on Oct. 2. Bring a water bottle or nonalcoholic beverage.

• Couples cooking class, The Cuisine of Asia, which will be held Nov. 6, teaches participants how to make dishes from Thailand, Vietnam and mainland China, such as dumplings, egg rolls and wok stir fry.

Entrepreneurs series

Lehigh Carbon Community College will offer a series of noncredit courses for business and professionals who want to build their own business.

Brand Your Own Business series provides training for entrepreneurs who want to learn how to create a strong brand through the use of up-to-date media and strong business practices, allowing them to better manage their company.

BYOB monthly topics include going from idea to reality, building your brand/getting the word out, managing resources and networking.

The following classes are held on Thursdays at LCCC’s Donley Center in Allentown from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at a cost of $62 each. People may register for each session individually or for a full series package of all four courses at a discounted cost.

The dates are:

• Oct. 8 – Build Your Brand: Getting the Word Out with 21st Century Marketing

• Nov. 5 – Resource Management

• Dec. 10 – Networking

First aid courses

LCCC will offer a variety of first aid classes at the main campus in Schnecksville.

• Learn how to properly apply first aid to save lives, recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness and deal with bleeding, shock, burns, fractures and much more. American Health and Safety Institute Basic First Aid will be offered on Sept. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m.

• People wanting to learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of injury and sickness in dogs and cats, treatments for common ailments, and solutions for handling emergencies can take Basic First Aid for Dogs and Cats, a one-time class scheduled for Oct. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m.

• AHSI Pediatric First Aid is ideal for daycare providers, school staff, scout leaders, coaches or others who work with youth. It includes CPR, AED and First Aid specifically for children. Class will be held Oct. 21 and 22, from 6 to 9 p.m.

• Babysitters wanting to know more about what to do if something happens to a child they are caring for will learn babysitting as a business, safety/injury prevention, leadership, play time, basic caregiving skills and basic first aid. The Babysitting First Aid class is held on Nov. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Wilderness First Aid offers training in patient assessment, tissue injuries, splinting and other topics used to save lives and limbs in remote, possibly life-threatening situations. Classes will be set up upon request by emailing pdonohue@lccc.edu.
