Penn Forest Twp. increases short-term rental fees

Short term rental license applications fees have increased in Penn Forest Township to $450 for properties with up to four licensable bedrooms.

An additional $250 fee will be charged for each bedroom in excess of four.

Inspection of the property will cost $100, plus $25 per bedroom. The re-inspection fee will be 50% of the initial inspection.

Any appeals to the board of supervisors will cost $500.

The board approved the changes last week.

Other business:

• Hanover Engineering appointed Sean Cunningham as a Sewer enforcement officer for the township.

• Dave Morales, Paul Barfknecht and Arthur Lowitzer were sworn in as fire police.

• A condensed version of the final financial statement from Zelenkofske Axelrod for the year ending Dec. 31, 2025, will be advertised.

• The total outstanding balance for Berkheimer’s delinquent per capita tax collection for 2013-24 is $25,899.50.

• Inspection and repairs for the 2022 F-600 dump truck at a cost of $831.07 and inspection and repairs for the 2019 F-550 truck at a cost of $3,262.74 were approved.

• Discussion was held about 232 Stoney Mountain Road and preserving 130 acres there. The plan is to continue to look at preserving that land and using it for the township as an additional park area. The board will be looking into pursuing more fundraising as the owner wants $2 million for the property. They are also looking for someone to be the steward of the land.

• Penn Forest Fire Company No. 1 reported 94 calls year-to-date, with most of them being false alarms. The company did CPR training, high voltage training and had a fundraiser breakfast. President Pat Rogers thanked the township for its continued support.
