State police at Frackville are investigating two separate thefts from vehicles in Schuylkill County.

On Aug. 27 Antonio Garcia, 35, of Arizona Avenue, West Mahanoy Township, reported his 9 mm semi-automatic pistol was stolen from his parked 2009 Honda Pilot. The gun was on the center console and was taken sometime between 9 a.m. on Aug. 26 and 5:10 a.m. on Aug. 27. The pistol is a Falcon Taurus G2C, silver with black grip. The vehicle was unlocked at the time, troopers noted.

The second theft was reported on Aug. 27 at 7:58 a.m. by Courtney McGowan, 21, of Florida Avenue, West Mahanoy Township. Her unlocked 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe was entered and her purse removed from the compartment on the driver side door. The purse was found a short distance away from the vehicle but $570 and a key were removed from it. The theft occurred sometime between 9 p.m. Aug. 26 and 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 27.
