September 8, 1979 - Slatington’s Dale Beck rushes for 169 yards and two touchdowns while the Bulldogs’ defense allows just 27 total yards and doesn’t allow their opponent to cross midfield in a season-opening 41-0 victory over Southern Lehigh. Jim Wieand’s forced and recoverd fumble sets up Beck for a 1-yard TD plunge to start the onslaught. The winners, coached by Dick Snell, double their advantage when Beck tosses a 35-yard scoring strike to Jeff Bachman. Beck adds a 34-yard TD run before Slatington receives tallies from Robert Williams, Dave Zellner and Bachman. On defense, Kyle Gruber intercepts a pass and recovers a fumble.
