A Schuylkill County driver was cited in a rear-end crash in Lehigh County on Aug. 24.

State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred at 7:44 a.m. along Route 309 in Lynn Township. Mohammed R. Hasanein, 22, of Tamaqua, and Rod A. Najimian, 64, of Milltown, New Jersey, were both northbound near Mountain Road when Hasanein fell asleep at the wheel of his 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan, and failed to observe Najimian slowing down. The front of the Tiguan struck the rear of Najimian’s 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.

Hasanein had a suspected minor head injury and was treated at the scene by Cetronia ambulance personnel. Najimian was not injured. Both vehicles were towed.

Hasanein was cited for following too closely. He also received a warning for not wearing a seat belt, troopers added.
