Palmerton Borough Council

Palmerton Borough Council, on a 5-0 vote with Councilmen Kris Hoffner and Michael Ballard absent, took the following action on Thursday:

• Approved the police pension plan annual minimum municipal obligation in the amount of $161,177.

• Approved the nonuniformed pension plan annual minimum municipal obligation in the amount of $72,398.

• Agreed to spend $18,064 for emergency repairs to Delaware Avenue to restore the roadway to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation specifications.

• Agreed to advertise for a new emergency management coordinator.

• Approved the Melo 81-89 Princeton Ave. subdivision.

• Agreed to grant a well waiver to the property at 1509 Mauch Chunk Road.

• Agreed to prepare an ordinance to pursue removing two parking spots in front of the Hunan House parking lot at Fifth Street and Delaware Avenue specifically to give the Palmerton Fire Department a better turning area when leaving the station.

• Agreed to authorize advertising an ordinance for a handicap parking space in the 800 block of West Princeton Avenue.

• Approved the Jim Thorpe fire police assistance request for its October 2020 weekends.
