NLRA offers tennis, mindful eating program

The Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority is offering two programs this September that will be made available to residents of Slatington and Walnutport Boroughs and Washington Township at a minimal fee.

The first, a class on Mindful Eating will run weekly from 6-7 p.m. beginning Sept. 1 and running until Oct. 6.

Participants will learn how to eat reasonably and how to have a healthier relationship with food and body image.

The class is not a diet class and will provide suggestions on how to choose food that will satisfy without overeating, and how to make peace with one’s body.

The class will be conducted via Zoom by Peggy Shannon, MS, RD, CLT, LDN. Online registration required at www.northernlehighrec.org.

Tennis for Beginners will reintroduce tennis to the Northern Lehigh community. The six-week class will be held at Eagles Nest Park on Eagle Road in Washington Township on Thursdays from Sept. 3 to Oct. 8.

Lessons will cover basic ground strokes, the serve and rules of the game.

A Youth Beginners class will be held from 5-6 p.m. and Adults Beginners from 6-7 p.m. There is a cost.

The instructor is Michelle Raber Gass. Online registration with Northern Lehigh Rec. is required.
