One patient flown from Silberline fire

A worker was burned Wednesday afternoon in an industrial fire in Rush Township.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. at the corporate headquarters of Silberline Manufacturing at 130 Lincoln Drive, Hometown.

Silberline officials said the fire happened inside a mixer at the plant but was contained and caused minimal damage.

Fire companies from Schuylkill and Carbon counties responded to the scene.

A landing site was established by the Ryan Township Fire Company in the Walmart parking lot.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua Ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being flown by MedEvac helicopter to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center where he was treated and released. No one else was injured in the incident.

“We are thankful for the fast response of our trained, internal personnel and our local first responders in addressing the incident,” a release stated.
