Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County:

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:11 p.m. on Aug. 14 along Interstate 81 in Butler Township. Troopers said Juan Fonseca, 51, of Lebanon, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado truck southbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The truck swerved from the left lane, rotating 360 degrees clockwise, crossing into the right lane and onto the berm where it struck a guide rail. After impact the truck came to final rest on the shoulder of the road.

Fonseca was not injured but the truck was towed from the scene. He was cited for the crash.

• Troopers reported a driving under the influence charge resulted from a one-vehicle crash at 7:46 p.m. on Aug. 12 along Moss Glenn Road in Schuylkill Township.

Troopers identified the driver of a 2007 Ford Expedition as Juan P. Mesa-Fernandez, 34, of Mahanoy City, who was not injured. Two passengers, boys ages 5 and 4, sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by Tamaqua ambulance personnel. Details of the crash were not provided by troopers.

Troopers indicated Mesa-Fernandez will be charged with DUI of alcohol or a controlled substance.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:16 a.m. Aug. 2 along Kunkles Hill Road in East Union Township. Renay A. Pekera, 42, of Ringtown, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire southbound and applied her brakes to stop at the intersection with Creek Road. The vehicle slid right on the wet roadway and went onto the berm where it rolled over an embankment.

Pekera and her passenger, a 17-year-old male from Ringtown, were not injured. The vehicle was towed.

She was cited for the crash.
