Fern Ridge state police

State police at Fern Ridge report on the following incidents:

• Police said a 2020 Kia Forte was stopped at 7:18 p.m. on Aug. 1 along Interstate 80 eastbound in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County for a traffic violation. Indicators of criminal activity were present and the driver, Yerick Cosme Nieves, 20, of Scranton, and front seat passenger, Shyane Tolley, 20, of Dunmore, were found in possession of marijuana. Troopers said drug possession charges were filed against the two.

• On Aug. 9 at 9:40 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the 300 block of Frantz Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, for a man who was walking around outside his ex-girlfriend’s home. During the course of an investigation it was determined that David Reeder, 26, of Somerville, New Jersey, was trespassing on the victim’s property. He was told previously not to come back to the property. Reeder also attempted to ram the victim’s vehicle with his vehicle.

Reeder was charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, loitering and prowling at night and harassment.

He was arraigned before a district judge and placed in the county prison in Snydersville after failing to post $10,000 bail.

• On Aug. 11, at 3:35 p.m. a 38-year-old man from Sciota, reported he received harassing messages from Gino Silvera, 29, of Effort. Silvera was charged with harassment by communication.

• Briana Griggs, 27, and Jaliyah Dingle, 18, both of Roosevelt, New York, are facing drug possession charges after police found marijuana in their purses after a traffic stop they made at 10:04 p.m. July 17.

Police said they stopped the 2017 Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Route 115 and Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township after it failed to stop for a stop sign. Upon making contact with the driver, Griggs, and the passenger, Dingle, police smelled marijuana. They conducted a search and the women admitted they had marijuana in their purses.
