Details of crash in Carbon released by police

A woman from Carbon County was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:27 a.m. Monday on Main Street in Banks Township.

State police at the Hazleton barracks said Sharon M. Chehovich, 57, of Junedale, was transported by the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. The severity of her injuries are not known, police said.

They said she was driving a 2017 Kia Sportage east on Main Street and was negotiating a right curve in the road when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a concrete block in a yard at 3 Main St. It continued to travel east through a front yard at 5 Main St., where it traveled over a retaining wall before the left front of the Sportage struck the corner of a home at 7 Main St. and overturned. Before coming to a halt, the vehicle damaged the entire front of 7 Main St. and partially damaged a home at 9 Main St., police said.

The Beaver Meadows, Hazle Township, Tresckow and Weatherly fire departments responded.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said Chehovich was cited for the incident.
