Group donates to Palmerton police

Palmerton United, a conservative to moderate Facebook group of bipartisan local citizens, has donated $1,410 to the Palmerton Police Department, raised during its first fundraising campaign. Pictured are Police Chief Randy Smith, alongside Raberta Hans, Carolyn Zettlemoyer, and Shannon Arndt.

Jarred Dillman, who was not able to attend, collected $1,000 from an online fundraiser, $500 of which was donated by Relly’s Deli in Bowmanstown.

Another member, Raberta Hans, raised $410 by selling Back the Blue yard signs. Many group members contributed to these endeavors.

In these days of possible police defunding, the residents of Palmerton want their Police Department to know that they stand behind them. The department has been low on funds to purchase necessary equipment so this and future fundraisers will be earmarked toward that purpose.

The group has also been doing a lot of other good deeds around town, feeding a couple of families and donating toys.
