August 19, 1979 - Dean Meckes tosses a five-hitter to lead Kunkletown to a 3-1 victory over Tamaqua in the Pocono Mountain League semifinals. Meckes, who walks only one, also contributes to two of his team’s runs. He walks and scores on a single by Rick Engle in the sixth inning, and delivers an RBI single to plate George Kurtz in the seventh. The winners also receive a run-scoring hit from Kurtz, who knocks in Dean Borger in the second. For Tamaqua, Ron Kehl accounts for his team’s run with a solo homer in the eighth.
