Pa. virus cases reach 120,000

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight., August 11, that there are 828 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 120,281.

There are 7,352 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 35 new deaths reported.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 20,086 resident cases of COVID-19, and 4,166 cases among employees, for a total of 24,252 at 883 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of our total deaths, 4,983 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities

Approximately 8,693 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Carbon County remains stable with 372 cases and 28 deaths.

In Lehigh County there are 4,992 cases, an increase of 17 cases. One additional death is reported for a total of 338.

In Luzerne County, there are 15 additional cases, bringing the total to 3.477. There are 184 deaths.

In Monroe County, there are seven additional cases, bringing the total to 1,642. There are 124 deaths.

Northampton County has 13 new cases for a total of 3,944. There are 292 cases.

Schuylkill County has 922 cases, an increase of 3. There are 51 deaths.
