A West Penn Township youth has received permission to complete his Eagle Scout Service Project.

Jack Tharp attended Monday’s board of supervisors meeting to propose his project, and said that in order to be ranked as an Eagle Scout, one of the requirements is to do a project that will give back to the community.

Tharp told the board he wants to construct a Gaga Ball (similar to Dodge Ball) pit at the West Penn Park West - Zion Stone.

He told the board he previously approached the park commission and asked if he could do his project at the park. The commission agreed, and he wanted to propose it to the board of supervisors for their acceptance.

The board thanked him for doing his service project in the township, as well as for being a Scout advancing to get ranked as an Eagle Scout.
