Three people have serious injuries in Schuylkill crashes

Three people suffered serious injuries in two separate crashes in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said a crash was reported on Sunday, no time given, along Route 61, at the intersection with West Market Street, in North Manheim Township, in which both drivers were suspect of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

Troopers said Gary G. Baver, 35, of Auburn, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala west on West Market Street and entered onto Route 61 to go southbound. At the same time Timothy A. East, 27, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2016 Dodge Charger and was entering the intersection while southbound. Baver’s vehicle struck East’s vehicle.

Baver was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville. East was not injured. Both vehicles were towed.

Both drivers are facing DUI charges, troopers added.

Troopers did not release the date or time of the second crash, but said it occurred along Route 901 in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Cornelius O. Green, no age given, of Cressona, and Kintay D. Moore, no age given, of Pottsville, were both southbound operating motorcycles at a high rate of speed in the right lane. While negotiating a curve Green crossed in front of Moore, causing both vehicles to leave the road. Both bikes became airborne and crashed along the right berm.

Both operators suffered serious injuries and were taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
