Friday virus update: 758 new cases; Pa. total 117,279

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight that there are 758 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 117,279.

Philadelphia is reporting an increase of 111 cases.

The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between July 31 and Aug. 6 is 148,658 with 5,443 positive cases. There were 24,388 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., Aug. 6. These results represent the total number of tests administered.

There are 7,297 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 15 new deaths reported.

Approximately 8,573 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Carbon County has one additional case, bringing the total to 368, with 28 deaths.

In Lehigh County, there are 17 new cases for a total of 4,918, with a total of 336.

Luzerne County is reporting 3,409 cases, an increase of 10. There is an additional death for a total of 184.

In Monroe there are four new cases, bringing the total to 1,618, with 124 deaths.

Northampton County logged 11 new cases, bringing the total to 3,913, with 292 deaths.

Schuylkill County had one new case. The total is 907, with one additional death for a total of 50.
