State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following driving under the influence and drug possession cases:
• On July 18 at 1:03 a.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop along Route 209 at Route 715, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, for a vehicle code violation. It was determined that the driver, Michael Hoffman, 26, of Saylorsburg, was driving under the influence of a controlled substance and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the county DUI center for a blood drawn.
• On July 30 at 7:55 p.m. troopers observed a 2012 Nissan Maxima traveling westbound on I-80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, with an expired registration. A vehicle stop was conducted. An odor of marijuana was detected emanating from the vehicle. A probable search was conducted and found was suspected marijuana, a grinder and rolling papers.
One of the occupants of the vehicle, Israel Betances, 27, of Reading, admitted the items were his. He is facing drug charges, troopers said.
