Donna McGarry, borough manager, said that flooding at the eastern end of Delaware Avenue prompted evacuation calls for the 800 and 900 blocks. McGarry, who was stationed at the municipal office downtown waiting for possible evacuees in need of shelter, believes the emergency management coordinator for Carbon County is on site.

McGarry was notified just before 9 p.m. that an evacuation might be necessary, and was unsure how many households would be affected by it. With the pandemic still ongoing, she added that the borough will “do our best” to ensure masks are worn and borough hall is kept clean.
