Driver taken to hospital from Hometown crash

One person was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when involved in a crash in Rush Township.

The crash occurred around 5 p.m. as a motorist was traveling north on Lincoln Drive in Hometown. The driver struck a parked Lexus in the rear.

Hometown firefighters and members of the Tamaqua Rescue Squad worked to free the victim from the wreckage. The driver was treated at the scene by members of the Ryan Township ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center. Hometown fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway. Rush Township police are investigating the incident.
