Pa. reaches 105,000 virus cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight that there are 1,213 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 105,571.

Allegheny is reporting an increase of 198 cases, and Philadelphia is reporting an increase of 227 cases.

The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between July 17 and July 23 is 151,858 with 5,912 positive cases. There were 25,602 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., July 23. These results represent the total number of tests administered.

There are 7,101 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 22 new deaths reported.

In Carbon County, cases increased by six to 342. Deaths remain at 28.

In Lehigh County, there are 15 new cases for a total of 4,624. Deaths remain at 334.

Luzerne County is reporting 3,107 cases, an increase of 16. Deaths remain at 183.

In Monroe there are three new cases, bringing the total to 1,539. There are 120 deaths.

In Northampton County, 17 new cases bring the total to 3,703. One additional death is reported for a total of 289.

In Schuylkill County, there are five new cases. The total is 835, with 49 deaths.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 18,991 resident cases of COVID-19, and 3,737 cases among employees, for a total of 22,728 at 813 distinct facilities in 60 counties. Out of our total deaths, 4,844 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. Approximately 7,827 of our total cases are in health care workers.
