State police at Fern Ridge

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following incidents:

• On July 4 at 9:14 p.m. troopers made a traffic stop along Interstate 80 westbound in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, for motor vehicle code violations. The driver, David Gofus, 31, of Pottstown, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was taken into custody. Troopers also found illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

• On June 25 at 7:05 p.m. troopers responded to Quiet Hills Lane and Sky Line Drive in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, to a report of a domestic incident. A 53-year-old woman from Effort had a cut on her head from a blunt object. Troopers said a 59-year-old man from Effort was missing teeth.

During the investigation it was learned that Ashley Penny, 30, of Effort, used a kitchen faucet and struck the woman in the head causing serious bodily injury then struck the man in the face, knocking out his teeth.

Penny was taken into custody and placed in the county prison in Snydersville charged with assault with a weapon and related counts.

• On July 16 at 11:41 a.m. a traffic stop was made along I-80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, for a window tint violation.

On scene the faint odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Police searched the vehicle and found six ecstasy pills and about 20 grams of marijuana.

The two occupants, Jocelyn Chambers, 38, and Taydren Gray, 30, both of Ossining, New York, were taken into custody and taken to the barracks for processing. Charges are pending.

• A traffic stop was made on June 27 at 9:47 p.m. along Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. The driver, a 37-year-old woman from Kunkletown, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

• On July 12 at 1:12 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Pennell Road in Chestnuthill Township for a report of harassment. Troopers learned a 17-year-old woman from Brodheadsville kicked a 41-year-old man, also from Brodheadsville, in the groin. She was charged with harassment - physical contact.

• On March 18 at 2:07 p.m. Stefanie Bobynskyj, no age of address given, entered Dunkleberger’s Sports Outfitters, Route 209, in Chestnuthill Township, and attempted to purchase a handgun.

After completing the paperwork required an employee at the story conducted a background check.

Once the check was completed Bobynskyj was informed records show she had a conviction for DUI, a second offense, on March 22, 2015, which she did not indicate on the paperwork. She was charged with a firearm violation.
