Coroner called to Parryville fire scene

The Carbon County coroner’s office was called to the scene of a Parryville fire Wednesday evening.

The body was found at the scene on Oak Street in the borough.

Coroner Bob Miller said the man went outside with his oxygen tank to smoke a cigarette. The fire was reported at 5:45 p.m.

When firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke coming from a third floor attic window and the eaves of the roof. Fire companies from Parryville, Bowmanstown, Franklin Township and Slatington responded to the fire.

Area fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
