A Maryland man driving the wrong way on a highway, died in a head-on collision in Schuylkill County on Saturday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred at 12:26 a.m. along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Robert P. Nicholson, 42, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was driving a 2016 Mazda southbound in the northbound lane when his vehicle was cresting a hill next to a concrete road divider and it collided head-on with a 2009 Honda Pilot driven by Christine M. Hernandez, 50, of Schuylkill Haven. Hernandez was driving in the lane closest to the divider.

Nicholson was pronounced dead at the scene. Hernandez was taken to the Reading Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
