A rally to show support for police officers will take place Saturday morning in Lehighton.
The event, organized by the Lehighton 9/12 Project and Patriots of the Constitution, will take place along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East (Route 443) across the street from Mauch Chunk Trust Co.
Sandy Dellicker, who organized the rally, said the event is a positive way of showing support for police.
“We just want them to know that we’re paying attention, and we support them, and we’ll back them,” Dellicker said.
Protesters are encouraged to bring their own signs showing support for police.
The organizers plan to display “thin blue line” American flags and a black version of the thin blue line flag which represents officers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Dellicker said that recent protests against police brutality have wrongly blamed all officers for the actions of a few.
“Everybody’s got bad apples. You can’t judge everybody by the actions of one person,” she said.
The rally will take place at 10 a.m. and run until noon.
