2 face drug charges in Schuylkill

Two Schuylkill County residents are facing drug charges following a vehicle crash.

State police at Frackville said troopers responded to a crash at 5:14 a.m. on July 10 along Valley Road in Cass Township. A witness saw two men getting out of the crashed vehicle and saying they had to get rid of drugs. Both men ran into a wooded area with one carrying a metal black box. Both were taken into custody.

Troopers said the black box was located and contained a large amount of methamphetamine, marijuana, large amount of empty wax baggies, digital scale and drug paraphernalia. After medical treatment the driver was taken to the barracks and admitted to having more drugs in his rectum area. Police found methamphetamine, marijuana and heroin. The driver was charged with felony drug delivery and driving under the influence while his passenger was charged with possession of marijuana.

Troopers did not identify the suspects except to say one was a 33-year-old man from Minersville and the other a 18-year-old man from Pottsville. The vehicle involved was a 2020 Hyundai Accent.
