Four are transported to hospital after crash

Four people were transported to an area hospital after a two-vehicle crash at 1:55 p.m. July 4 at the intersection of Interchange and Forest Inn roads in Towamensing Township, according to state police at the Lehighton barracks.

Police said Mar Rodriguez-Rodriguez, 48, of Bethlehem, the driver of one of the vehicles, and her passenger, Jason Cruz Candelaria, 38, of Philadelphia, as well as Edward M. Minett, 75, the other driver, and passenger Judy R. Minett, 76, both of Albrightsville, were transported by the Lehighton Emergency Medical Services personnel to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police said the crash happened when Rodriguez, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on Forest Inn Road, failed to stop at a stop sign and turned onto the southbound lane of Interchange Road, directly into the path of Minett’s 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, which was northbound on Interchange Road.

Both vehicles sustained major front end damages.

Police said Rodriguez was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

The Palmerton EMS and Aquashicola Fire Company personnel also responded to the scene to assist police.
