Prothonotary report

Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released the statistical report of activities for her office for the month of May.

There were 828 cases started in March with the following breakdown: civil actions, 9; custody, 14; declaratory judgments, 1; divorce, 11; DEC/TAk, 1; license appeal, 2; mortgage foreclosures, 2; protection from abuse, 25; STIP/WAIV/LEINS, 7; judgments, 746; mental health, 2; custody modifications, 6; and writs of execution, 26.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no passports were processed in May.

Total income generated was $34,294.05; prothonotary fees, $24,428.39; custody/divorce fees, $200; data processing fees, $8,882.50; interest income, $1.89; PFA surcharge sheriff, $57.60; PFA surcharge courts, $78.70; and stenographer fees, $645.

In addition to the above fees, the office remitted to the county for the remote access fund for remote access fees of $2,100, remitted to the state department of revenue (fees collected on new cases) $2,379.70; and automation fund $2,810 - money collected for future automation and improvements to the office.

Credit defaults

The following actions were filed by credit card companies, or their collection agencies, for alleged defaults on credit card/loan accounts.

Midland Funding, Philadelphia, filed an action against Robin Sims, 2069 Grist Mill Drive, Weatherly, seeking $1,593.38.

LVNV Funding, Greenville, South Carolina, filed the following actions: Dawn Hahn, 565 Station St., Lehighton, seeking $1,951.88; and Brandi Winters, 635 Forest Inn Road, Lehighton, seeking $866.78.

First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union, Bethlehem, filed an action against Terrie Lee Farenkopf, aka Terrie Lee Kunkel, 220 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, seeking $7,202.69.
