Several Schuylkill businesses cited for liquor violations

Several Schuylkill County businesses were cited by the Allentown enforcement office of the state liquor control board for violating special orders issued by the board in response to Gov. Tom Wolf and the state secretary of health declarations incident to the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Frank J. Boslet Jr., 514 E. Union St., Tamaqua, also known as Soley’s, was cited on May 29 for allowing the sale of food and/or alcohol in violation of the special order issued during a time of declared emergency by the governor.

Also cited for the same violation was DW’s Deli & Hoagie Inc. of Tower City, on May 9; Little Run Social Club Inc. of Tremont Township, on April 27; Daubert Distributors of Pine Grove Township, on April 27; and Main Street Sandwich Shop of Minersville, on April 27.

• The Compass Rose, 10 Oak St., Frackville, received several citations for the following violations that occurred on Jan. 5. The violations included: failed to require patrons to vacate the premises not later than one-half after the required time for the cessation of the service of alcoholic beverages; permitted patrons to have beverages after 2:30 a.m.; and sold, furnished alcoholic beverages on Sunday, between 2 and 9 a.m.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can impose a license suspension or revocation of the licenses based on the severity of the charge brought.
