Panthers’ Hoben heading to Lycoming

Panther Valley graduate Shawn Hoben will be continuing his academic and athletic career at Lycoming College.

Hoben will be playing football for the Division 3 Warriors.

The four-year member of the Panthers varsity team, Hoben also played two years on the junior high squad and seven years in knee-hi football. At PV, he played safety, wide receiver, running back, and long snapper.

Last season, Hoben caught 10 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball 15 times for 70 yards and a score. Defensively, Hoben recorded 64 tackles (16 solo and 48 assists), 1.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, six pass breakups, six interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. He also broke a school record with a 95-yard interception return for a touchdown.

He received First Team Division 2 all-league honors as a defensive back, and First Team All-County credentials also at defensive back. He was named a 2019 Schuylkill County All-Star and a Times News All-Star Defensive Back.

Hoben, who also played basketball and was on the track team, was involved with the school newspaper.

The son of Judy and Shawn Hoben, Shawn plans on majoring in criminal justice.
