State police called to cat removal in Penn Forest

A cruelty to animals (cats) case is being investigated by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.

Police said they were summoned at noon June 5 to a residence along Tamarack Terrace, Penn Forest Township, for a report of multiple cats being inside the residence. Police said the homeowner was unavailable to care for the cats and several of them were removed from the home and turned over to various animal rescue groups for treatment and care.

Police were assisted at the scene by a police officer with the Carbon County Humane Society.
