Woman found overdosed in car with young child

State police at Frackville reported a woman was found overdosed in a vehicle with a 3-year-old child with her. Troopers said the incident occurred at 9:08 p.m. on Sunday along at Holy Road and Pine Creek Drive, in Rush Township.

Troopers said three people observed a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road with the passenger door open and no driver. Upon a closer inspection they found a 26-year-old woman from New Philadelphia, who troopers declined to identify, unresponsive in the back seat of the vehicle with the child. Emergency personnel responded and administered naloxone to the woman, who became responsive after several doses.

The female was then transported to St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. The child was taken by a family member and was not injured as a result of the incident.

Charges of endangering the welfare of a child will be filed against the woman, troopers said.
