A Schuylkill County man is being sought for assault and related counts.

State police at Frackville said an arrest warrant has been issued for Daniel Leary, 41, of Ashland, charging him with aggravated assault, cruelty to animals and related counts.

According to troopers at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Leary confronted a 33-year-old Ashland man on Walnut Street in Ashland.

He threatened his life while carrying a baseball bat.

Leary then struck the man with the metal baseball bat twice, injuring his upper right arm and left hand.

Police said Leary also struck the man’s dog with the bat. He then pushed the man out of the residence and fled the scene.
