Panther Valley School Board hired Jesse Walck as business manager at a salary of $75,000.

Walck officially begins July 1, but will work as interim business manager starting Friday at a rate of $228.47 per day.

According to Walck’s Facebook page, he is a representative of Onward Financial, served in the U.S. Air Force and studied economics at Temple University.

A graduate of Lehighton Area High School, he lives in Jim Thorpe.

He is replacing Kenneth Marx who left to become business manager at Jim Thorpe Area School District.

The board accepted an agreement with Joseph Gunnels, Junior-Senior High School principal, who is retiring from his position. Gunnels, known for his interaction with the students, became principal in 2010.

The board approved transferring seven teachers to new positions in the district.
