A woman was seriously injured in a violent crash Thursday afternoon in Banks Township, Carbon County. The crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. as she was traveling along Spring Mountain Road just east of Route 93. For some unknown reason she lost control of her pickup with it rolling off the north berm into a tree. The impact of the crash collapsed the cab of the truck.

The rescue operation took over two hours to free the victim.

She was treated at the scene then flown to an area trauma center.

The road was closed for several hours.

State Police at Hazleton are investigating the incident.
