West End news for June 18, 2020

More clients

The PVEN reports that families being served with food in May grew from 274 last year to 289 this year and that summer lunch, using the drive-through model, has each child receiving four meals three times a week.

Folks wanting to volunteer can contact Colleen Walsh, the Operations Manager, at summerlunch@pven.net

Current needs for the clothing department include new socks, black and white; new underwear-boxer briefs for boys and young men; new school supplies, but no pencils as the supply on hand is adequate; new school sneakers, black and white; and feminine hygiene products.

Two donation times

The upcoming Red Cross blood drive on June 29, at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville, only has two appointments for Power Red donations left as of this column’s deadline. Call 1-800-RED CROSS.

The next drive for giving blood is July 10 at Boundless Yoga Studio on 823 Ann St., Suite F, Stroudsburg, from 3:15 to 6 p.m.

VBS announced

St. Matthew’s UCC Vacation Bible School, Rainforest Explorers: Jesus Leads the Way, has been announced for July 20 through July 24 for children ages 3 through 12.

It will include Bible storytelling, games, crafts, music, snacks and a Bible Challenge.

The church’s VBS team will have many safety precautions in place. However, if large gatherings are prohibited, VBS will have to be postponed.

Refreshments will not include homemade items. However various packaged items may be donated.
